This week is all about the letter Hh. We learned the correct way to write Hh in upper/lower case, learned the "sign" for Hh, and learned that Hh is the laughing letter with the sound it makes. Our little ones had fun with the Hh sound. Our Board Story was about Henry hopping on the bed, going higher and higher. Our Board Words this week are hedgehog, highchair, horse, and hat. We added 13 additional words to our board. Awesome job Preschool!! Our Circle Time stories have been: Little Hh and Her Sound Box by Scholastic; The Hiccupotamus by Aaron Zenz; Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson. We have also been having fun with nursery rhymes like Hickory Dickory Dock and Humpty Dumpty.
In the Art Center this week we made a hot dog craft and everyone decided what they would like on their hot dog. Some picked just ketchup, some just mustard, some both, and many picked everything: mustard, ketchup, onions, and relish. We even had some say the mustard wasn't mustard because they liked cheese on their hot dog. It's fun to make your craft your own. We also used Fall leaves to make a hedgehog craft. We watched a short video which helped us learn a few things about this cute and spikey animal. I have a hedgehog at home and our Preschoolers really want me to bring her in. Maybe when it gets warmer out.
In Math we continue to learn about and review our shapes, we count daily, and are beginning to work on one-to-one correspondence. We are also working on patterns.
We started having group discussions about being thankful for all that God gives us. These discussions will continue to be a part of all of our religion lessons and will last until Thanksgiving break.
We will end our letter Hh week with a special letter Hh treat on Friday. Yum!!
Special Notes:
*If your child is sick, please keep him/her home. If they come to school not feeling well, they do not participate as they normally would, they are tired and tend to lay on their desks, they do not want to play, etc.... Remember, this is Preschool. If they miss, they will be fine!!
I know that allergies and colds are here. If you are not sure if they have something contagious, please keep them home to be extra cautious. I am seeing runny noses, coughs, sneezing, complaints of sore throats, tummy aches, headaches. Remember, we have masks on. If your child has a nose running inside of their mask, the mask gets wet, itchy, and irritates their little noses. I wouldn't want a wet mask on my nose all day. Our tummy aches may be from nausea. Possibly from drainage. No one likes to feel nauseous. It's hard for your child to carry out a normal day when they don't feel good. Keep them home and let them have some down time with some TLC.
*Watch for conference information coming home soon from Mrs. Forsythe. My conferences will be on Monday, November 22nd. This is a half day of school for students.
*Our weather is changing. We have recess first thing in the morning , weather permitting. Be sure to dress your child for our cold weather. I am asking that you send your child with mittens when needed and NOT gloves. It takes us too long to get those little fingers into each finger spot. I have 18 students in my class - that is 180 fingers. Mittens are much easier and quicker, plus little hands stay warmer when skin is touching skin.
*Our Fun Fridays are going great. I am excited to end our week with a special letter Hh treat.
