ingLast week was all about the letter Cc. We made cats, crows, and painted corn with Q-tips. Everyone did a great job on all of our crafts. We created a nice Fall scene outside of our classroom with our crafts. It looks great!!
This week we are learning all about the letter Dd. Today we learned the correct way to write letter Dd in upper/lower case, learned the Dd sound, and the "sign" for Dd. Our Board Story was about Dawn digging, down, down, down. Our Board words are doctor, donut, dog, and duck. We added 13 more words to our board. Awesome job Preschool!!
We had fun making Dd crowns. Each week we practice our cutting skills when we make our crowns. Our Circle Time story was Little D and Her Letter Dd Sound Box. We had fun singing and doing the finger play for "5 Little Ducks" and singing "The Letter Dd Song". Our morning was busy and went by so fast.
Everyone is doing great. We are adjusting to our routine, becoming more independent, are making new friends, learning names, etc.... I am so proud of them all.
We continue to play with playDoh, stringing beads, playing with lacing cards, and sorting blocks to help develop our palmer muscles.
Our shape this week is the Diamond. A fun song is helping us to remember the diamond shape.
**Special Notes:
*I saw many of you at Harvest Fest. I hope you all had a nice time.
*Each morning as we enter our room we find our name and put it on our attendance board. During Circle Time we spread apples with each students name on it on the carpet and sing this song: "All of these apples fell from the tree! Where can ______'s apple be? __________, ________ look around. Find your apple on the ground. Young children begin to recognize the shape of the first letter of their name and often identify that letter as "MY NAME". We then move on to adding more and more letters until that name is fully recognized. We foster the learning of their names by labeling everything: their locker, their mailbox, crayon case, seat, attendance card, and more. This allows them to develop ownership of that very important word. Our Circle Time Name Game allows us to not only recognize our own name, but those of their classmates. Some of our Preschoolers are doing great and are helping each other. We are also using our name tracing pages to not just recognize, but practice writing our name. Please be sure to practice with your child at home. As each letter is written be sure to say the name of the letter as well.
