Today we started learning all about the letter Kk. We learned how to write upper/lower case Kk the correct way, learned the Kk sound, and learned the "sign" for Kk. Our Board Story was about Kim the Kangaroo karate kicking. Our Board Words are: king, kiwi, koala, and kite. We added 11 more words to our board. Way to go Preschool. Today we read the books Kate's Kittens and Little Kk and His Sound Box by Scholastic.
In Religion today we "lit" our first of four advent candles. We learned that the circle of the wreath represents God's never ending love and that each candle has a different meaning. The first candle is called the Prophets Candle or the Candle of Hope. It is called the Prophets candle in remembrance of the Prophets, especially Isiah, who foretold of the birth of Christ. It represents the Hope and anticipation of the coming of the Messiah. We had fun learning the "sign" for HOPE and will continue to practice this throughout the week. We ended our Religion lesson by coloring the first candle on our Advent Wreath.
In Math we continue with our counting, number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and patterns. We also continue with shape recognition. Our focus this week is on the diamond (or kite) shape.
Special Notes:
*There are a lot of different illnesses going around and Covid is on the rise. If your child is not feeling well, is complaing about not feeling well or shows any symptoms that show that he/she is not feeling well - Keep them home!! I know that we often think it's a cold, allergies, or some other virus, but we all need to take care of each other by being extra cautious. If you send your child to school with a runny nose, a frequenet cough, etc... they will be sent home. If you suspect a fever please do not give your child Tylenol while waiting in line at morning drop off. They usually tell us and after their medicine wears off we know it. Remember your child MUST be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
*It is getting cold outside and winter is definitely on the way! Please dress your child for the weather. Hat, mittens, scarf, boots when it snows, and shoes with socks. We play outside each morning and my full day students play outside after lunch. I had several cold little ones today. I would also like each of my full day students to send in a bag with snowpants and boots that can be left at school throughout our winter season. This will help prevent items being left at school when they are needed at home (especially over the weekend). Please label all articles of clothing. We have many matching items in class.
*We will be learning a lot of new and fun Christmas songs over the coming weeks. Be sure to try and hear a bit of what they are singing. It is too adorable. When I hear them trying to remember the words and sing our songs it brings such a smile to my face. I love my Preschoolers so much!!
*Be sure to watch for notes concerning our Christmas party. Our Room Mom's are already working on it.
