Today we started to learn about the letter Nn. We learned how to write Nn the correct way in upper/lower case, we learned the Nn sound, and the "sign" for Nn. Our Board Story was about Nate having ninety-nine freckles on his nose and Nancy having none. Our Board words include: nurse, necklace, nose, and nut. We added 10 additional words to our board. Good Job Preschool!! Our Circle Time story was Little Nn's Letter Box by Scholastic. In this story we helped Little Nn find all of the Nn items to add to Nn Box. During Circle Time we talked about starting our New Year (2022). Our little ones were excited to change the number of the year. We also had a fun discussion about all that Santa left them for Christmas. We saw some very excited and happy faces today.
In the Writing Center we did our Getting Ready letter Nn page.
We made our crowns in the Art Center. In Math we continue to learn our shapes, work on number recognition and counting, practice patterns, practice one-to one- correspondence, and more. Today we used our Math Boxes and dice to practice One to One correspondence. They love using their Math Boxes.
Our focus in Religion this week will be: The Story of Noah's Ark. Today we learned a little song that begins to tell us this wonderful "Promise" story.
We had several little ones without their winter gear today. We were missing hats, gloves, snowpants, mittens, and boots. In order to play outside, we need to have the majority, if not everyone, dressed appropriately to venture into the great outdoors. The cold weather and the lack of winter gear kept us from playing in the snow. Soooo, we got creative and decided to bring the snow indoors. Check out our instagram page to see our photos from our snow play. They all had so much fun!!!
Important Notes:
*As we all know, our Covid numbers are on the rise. The symptoms of the new variant are very close to that of the common cold. If your child has ANY symptoms, please keep them home. If they come to school with any symptoms, we will be calling you to pick them up. I will not wait to see how they are doing throughout the morning or the day. If I see a runny nose, or hear congestion or cough, get complaints of sore throat, or they seem punky/tired - they will be going home. I have to think about all of the students, and their families, in my class. It is best to err on the side of caution. We are a family at St. Paul - a loving, kind community. We need to be there to help and support everyone. Thank you in advance for your help and understanding.
*Please send your child to school dressed for the weather. We like to go outside daily. However, if I have too many students without the appropriate clothing, I cannot go out. I have had a few families leave extra snow pants, boots, hats, mittens at school. This is great!! If you would like to do this, please send everything in a bag with your child and I will leave it in their locker. Please label all clothing!!! Also, send a note in your child's red folder so that I know that the extra clothing is to remain at school.
**HAPPY NEW YEAR! May the spirit of the season of New Year fill your heart serenity and peace. WIshing you a Happy and Blessed New Year.
